Pssst, got a secret for you…

I took my toddler to the park earlier and there were 2 teenagers on the swings next to us.

Teen 1 (to her friend who was looking at her phone): You’ll never guess what!

Teen 2: *Looks up uninterested then back to her phone*

Teen 1: I’m not going to tell you.

Teen 2: *pretends not to hear her*

Teen 1: I’ve got a boyfriend. I’m not telling you who he is though.

Teen 2: *uninterested* right

Teen 1: OK, it’s Tom.

Teen 2: *gives her a ‘so what’ look and wanders off’

2 minutes later another girl wanders over…

Teen 1: You’ll never guess what!

Teen 3: Oh my god, what?

Teen 1: I’m not going to tell you.

Teen 3: Oh go on, you have to now. Pleeeease!

Teen 1: I’ve got a boyfriend. Im not telling you who he is though.

Teen 3: *looks like this is the most interesting thing she’s ever heard* What? Who is it? Since when? You have to tell me everything!

Teen 3: *Fills her in on all the juicy details*

Moral of the story? Make sure you’re speaking to the right audience.

If you’re telling someone who doesn’t give a sh1t about your ideas or offer, you’re going to get a lukewarm response at best. That’s why the only opinions that matter when it comes to your business… the ONLY ones… are your own and your ideal clients.
